Since it was the day of Preparation…. programme notes

We had hoped to mark this Easter Weekend by sharing with you a film from our March performances of James MacMillan’s ‘Since it was the day of Preparation…’
Sadly those performances could not go ahead in the current circumstances – so instead we’d like to invite you to spend an hour in our company this weekend listening to our 2015 recording on Delphian Records.

This extraordinary piece follows the story of the Resurrection as told in St John’s Gospel and is set for an unusual but magical instrumentation of clarinet, french horn, harp, cello and theorbo. The story is brought to life by Brindley Sherratt in the role of Christ alongside a quartet of singers from Synergy Vocals. In equal parts sombre and vivid, reflective and ecstatic, the work carries above all a message of hope – something we all need right now.

We’ve put together a programme for you to enjoy as you listen – read about the piece and the performers at http://tiny.cc/SIWTDOPprogramme

Listen on Spotify: http://tiny.cc/SIWTDOP
Buy the CD: http://tiny.cc/SIWTDOPCD

And if you’re listening, let us know – we’d love to hear from you.

We wish you all a very happy and healthy Easter period.
