Ahead of the release of our recorded performance of Arvo Pärt’s Passio with Dunedin Consort this weekend, we caught up with baritone Matthew Brook, who sings Christus in our performance. Matthew highlights some of the differences between Passio and the more widely-known Bach Passions, and how Pärt’s pared-back musical language is actually extremely effective in telling the story and conveying its broader themes.
The full performance will be available here from Saturday 17 April at 7:30pm, for 30 days.
While we had initially hoped to present this magnificent work as a live tour, we are delighted to be able to share the performance with as many people as possible by making it available free of charge. If you would have purchased a ticket to attend in person, or if you’d just like to help us on our way as we return to a full programme of concerts and educational activity, we would be extraordinarily grateful if you would support us with a donation.
